I'm a huge fan of Sennheiser headphones, as well, but these just aren't up to par with the other products they've put out. At first the sound was ok, but it didn't take long for the bass to sound "staticky" and drown out the music. They seem to be fine if you like your music at a lower volume, which I don't, and the in-line volume control is pretty cheesy. I've had them for a few months and they're going in the trash while I look for another pair.

Sennheiser is quickly becoming my favourite or at least tied for first favourite headphone producer, the other being Koss. I read some less than flattering reviews of this model of earbuds on [another website] but in my opinion those people were completely wrong. They fit well (and not all earbuds can boast even that!), sound GREAT for earbuds and I love the in-line volume control. Contrary to what others have said elsewhere, having an in-line volume control IS a blessing and not an inconvenience. I am amazed at the quality of sound from earbuds and highly recommend the MX500 for people who like earbuds rather than supraural (on the ear) or circumaural (around the ear) headphones. Remember that Sennheisers have a break-in period of between 12-30 hours for best sound reproduction of the unit. I believe you will truly be surprised at how much "Big Sound" and GOOD sound comes out such a tiny unit. It is also nice that they wind back up into their own carry case! I would strongly recommend a basic headphone extension cord if you find the length of the headphone wires to be too short for you. They are about three to three and half feet and as with all earbuds, they can easily come out of your ears with too much tension on the cord. The extension cords are easy to find at Target, [and other retailers], and such places and are very inexpensive. In conclusion, I believe this is an excellent product that really delivers great sound despite being so small. Of course, one cannot reasonably compare them with larger headphones and expect the same level of performance but you won't be disappointed with the Sennheiser MX500 Earbud headphones if you give them a chance.
